During March Madness, Harvard University’s assistant coach Yanni Hufnagel worked hard to make sure that Harvard received their first victory. Now, Yanni Hufnagel is off to Vanderbilt to start fresh once again. Just like he was at Harvard, Hufnagel will be the assistant coach for Vanderbilt University. Working at Harvard and Vanderbilt were two opportunities that Hufnagel just could not turn down.
Yanni Hufnagel recruits the players to the teams, so he has to have a pretty good knowledge of what a good, dedicated player looks like. He says that there are three things you should look for which include do they have the will to win, are they coach-able, and can you handle being around them? If they have all of these qualities then you need to get them onto your team! You do not want players that are going to fight among themselves, you want players who can get along with each other. You want players who want to work hard and are always willing to learn. You want players who are willing to listen to a coach. Players that want to learn and do not think they know it all.
Although Yanni Hufnagel may not be the best basketball player himself, he is a great coach and recruiter. He has a knowledge for the game that is unremarkable, and a will to make his team successful. Yanni Hufnagel has learned a lot about recruiting during his years coaching, because he always wanted his team to be a winning team. He would take the time to thoroughly look at the players and pick the very best ones. Yanni Hufnagel worked hard for Harvard when he was there, and the hard work paid off. Now he plans to work hard for Vanderbilt, and has high hopes of carrying them to the top.
